Mezza, our friendly film-maker
Meet Mezza
Mezza will be involved in the production process from the start of planning and pre-production through to the rough cut. He’ll also help you operate the cameras and work on editing the final film.
Your chance to capture P&P on film
People & Planet is looking for at least two university and two sixth form P&P groups to take part in an exciting project that will culminate in the production of a film about the activities of the network. We are working with film-making company [Ignite Creative](http://www.ignitecreative.co.uk/”Ignite Creative Website”), who will be providing training, editing and production support. The film will be made into a DVD, and will also be posted on the internet. It will be used to promote the activities of the network and shown at [events](/events/”People & Planet events”) both within the P&P network, and publicly.
No application form or knowledge of film-making is required, and sixth formers especially are encouraged to get involved. Ideally at least two people from your group will attend the training and production days, though individuals are also welcome. To express interest or ask questions, just email Eleanor or phone her on 01865 245678. To take part, you’ll need to confirm by the end of December 07.
What will it involve?
Taking part in the project will mean committing some time to attending planning & training, as well as capturing film of your group in action:
1. A Weekend of Planning & Training
You’ll need to be able to attend a weekend in late January (dates negotiable & expenses paid by People & Planet) when you’ll meet the other groups and plan your vision for the film. You’ll decide:
- What look and style the film will have
- The structure & storyboarding
- What type of content to include
- Who will film what (to ensure a good mix of material)
On the second day you’ll receive all the training you need to make your vision a reality. This will include:
- Introduction to filming equipment
- How to use it!
- How to plan your filming effectively
- How to compose shots and achieve different styles
2. Filming your Group in Action
From February until March, you’ll film the material that will be used. This could be filming an event or meeting, or interviewing members about their thoughts and experiences. You could also film any actions you do during Go Green Week and Fairtrade Fortnight.
3. Collaborative Editing
Everyone involved in the project will then meet again for a day and, with the technical assistance of Ignite Creative, will edit the final film. Ignite Creative will produce the film and you’ll receive a copy of the DVD and be able to see your work on the web!
