Warwick People & Planet got over 60 students and their MP to join them at a candle-lit vigil on World AIDS Day

Northampton Uni P&P present the hundreds of action cards they collected to their MP Sally Keeble.

On the eve of World AIDS Day London School of Economics People & Planet put Hilary Benn on the spot about the government’s 2010 promise. Read more

Ealing College P&P set up a Treat AIDS Now stall in their canteen, raising awareness and getting fellow students to take action. Masses of action cards were signed and will be presented to their local MP in January. Read more

Treat AIDS Now campaigners from St Andrews Uni got over 200 action-cards signed in 1 day!

P&Pers from Liverpool Uni raised £500 of crucial funds for People & Planet’s fight for AIDS treatment at their hugely successful World AIDS Day band night. Read more

Students at Atlantic College organised a whole week of Treat AIDS Now action, starting with a fundraising Red Ribbon Ball, followed by workshops, lectures and films to raise awareness, whilst calling for action and collecting signatures for the campaign. Read more

Essex Uni P&Pers had a huge lobbying success with local MP, Bob Russell. At their meeting the group also presented him with over 200 action cards they had collected in only 2 days. Thanks to their efforts he signed the AIDS treatment Early Day Motion (EDM) and will look at signing the Financing EDM. He also agreed to personally write a letter to Hilary Benn urging him to take action. Read more

Nab Wood School P&P held a speaker event, put up posters everywhere in the school to raise awareness and sold ribbons to raise money for People & Planet’s Treat AIDS Now campaign.

York University P&Pers collected hundreds of action-cards which they will present to their MP at the end of term. They also held a vigil with images of the impacts of HIV/AIDS, as well as the hope treatment and prevention programmes can bring. Candles were placed on a world map showing the countries where people have been most affected.

Cheney School People & Planet group went into the lessons of all years to do AIDS quizzes and to collect signatures.

Aberysthwyth Uni P&Pers successfully lobbied their local MP Mark Williams. He signed People & Planet’s EDM on AIDS treatment and committed to sign the Financing one. Read the report written by one of the group’s members.

Northampton Uni P&P’s World AIDS day event brought together students and local people for a photo exhibition, speakers and a question time session with local MP Sally Keeble. The group presented Sally Keeble with two enormous ‘pill-bottles’ full of action cards and got her to sign the treatment EDM. Read more

Hundreds of action cards were signed thanks to the efforts of Lancaster Uni People & Planet campaigners.

City of London School for Girls and Grey Coat Hospital School were amongst the many schools, who put on special assemblies and events as well as holding stalls to collect signatures for Treat AIDS Now.

A whole range of events and actions on and around World AIDS Day were organised by Warwick Uni P&P. They included talks and presentations, stalls, a vigil and a live music event. On World AIDS Day itself they held a candle-lit vigil outside their students union, to which they invited their MP Jim Cunningham and presented him with hundreds of action cards. The Treat AIDS Now stall at which they got students signing the action cards also sold their very own label World AIDS Day pants!

Reading Uni P&P met their MP Rob Wilson on World AIDS Day and convinced him to sign People & Planet’s EDM on AIDS treatment. They also hosted a MasquearAID Ball raising money for People & Planet’s Campaign for AIDS treatments, and for AIDS charities. Read more

Worcester Uni People & Planet collected hundreds of action cards at their crowd drawing Treat AIDS Now stalls. The action cards were then presented to local MP Michael Foster who, thanks to the lobbying efforts of the determined P&Pers, committed to writing Hilary Benn and Gordon Brown.

The P&P support office met with their local MP, Andrew Smith. Although Mr Smith insisted that he never signed EDMs, he agreed to support the campaign by writing to Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Hilary Benn, asking ‘what they are doing to lead on this critical issue’.
