The Basingstoke Gazette has honoured Chris with their Green Hero Award for her dedication to the environmental cause at Queen Mary’s College. A big part of the way that Chris has improved the environmental credentials of the college - and what she is most proud of - is setting up a People & Planet group which has empowered and informed a large number of young people.
Through the People & Planet group Chris has helped introduce a college recycling scheme, encouraged alternative methods of transport and organised an annual Green Fair.
Chris says, “Anything that I have achieved at the college has been part of a co-operative effort” and that “It is important to get students interested in environmental issues, as they are the future.”
Not only has Chris been an inspiration to everyone involved in P&P, she is also kindly donating the £300 prize money to People & Planet so that we can continue to support young people in transforming the world.
