South West Schools Day Success
Students from three schools across the South West came together to learn new skills, share their experiences and have a bit of a kick-about on 26 April
South West Schools Action Day April 2008
Balcarras School in Cheltenham played host to People & Planet’s South West Schools Action Day. Students from Chipping Campden School and Farmor’s School in Fairford met with a delegation from the Balcarras School P&P group to learn how to plan their green campaigns, lobby decision makers and have some fun. Office staff travelled down from Oxford to run the day and made themselves look like clowns by leading a penguin race to break the ice.
P&P generously laid on a lovely lunch and the weather was nice enough for students to sit outside and play a bit of footy. Towards the end of the day, students learnt about our new campaign theme chosen by students at The Forum in March: People and Planet before Profit. They were excited by the possibilities and gave office staff loads of fantastic ideas for how to develop the detail of the campaign, which will be decided at next year’s Forum event.
The event was such a success that we’re planning another one for the autumn term so if you couldn’t make it to Balcarras School but you’re up for running like a penguin and learning some skills at the same time keep your eyes peeled!
