"Lug-that-Mug" say Rose Bruford Green Society
To mark a year of campaigning, Rose Bruford Green Society used the annual symposium at the college to launch their re-usable mugs campaign, which aims to help students cut down their waste.
This year Rose Bruford’s annual symposium was a chance not only to have a break from work and have a go at workshops like circus skills and Capoeira or see some great performances, but also to celebrate the first year of the Rose Bruford Green Society and a successful year of green campaigning. Having used last year’s festivities to launch the society, this year they took the opportunity to lay on some fun activities and to launch their latest campaign: Lug-a-Mug.
“We had recycled plastic mugs printed up with the society logo and the college name and sold them all with a tea bag and little milk portions so that everyone just had to add hot water to get their free cup of tea! We wanted to make it really easy for everyone to bring a mug to college to use in the cafe instead of the paper cups provided thus cutting down on waste. These mugs are nice and lightweight and they won’t break in your bag, plus they make a nice souvenir.”

They also ran an activity entitled ‘Project Catwalk’, for which teams had to make an outfit suitable to wear to the summer ball out of bin liners, loo roll and masking tape, plus anything they could find in the room or had about their person. There were some very imaginative creations, so watch out Alexander McQueen! Not to be out done, the Green Society were all sporting their new hoodies, printed up at home to be in keeping with the Redress Fashion campaign.
