G8 2007: Day 1
50,000 join G8 demonstration in Rostock
Whilst some protesters clashed with the German police, P&Pers and Solar Generation activists (plus some unhappy giant snowmen) protested peacefully for urgent action on Climate Change and poverty reduction.
James Trewby (left), from Reading Uni Campaigns Forum said:
“I came to make my voice heard and to campaign on issues that effect the worlds poorest people. I fear that violence could prevent important messages from getting through but it’s pleasing to see so many people stand up against the root causes of poverty.”
Miko Alino (left) a member of Solar Generation in The Philippines said:
“I came here to call on the G8 leaders to shut up and start taking action on Climate Change.”
