Green League 2007: For Students

So, how did your university do?

Whatever the result, this league table is intended for you as a campaigning tool to make your uni Go Green!

Three Green League Actions to take:

1. Hold a Green League Degree Ceremony:

Invite your VC along to a graduation ceremony either congratulating the university on an excellent environmental performance or berating them for not doing better. If they choose not to attend why not arrange a meeting with your VC and award the degree there? Or alternatively hold an impromptu ceremony as your VC leaves their office? However your ceremony is held make sure you have a camera ready and send us your snaps!

2. Write a press release for your student paper and local radio and newspapers.

If your uni has done well, praise the progress it has made and highlight how much more there is still to do to tackle climate chaos. If it’s done badly, make sure everyone knows - and shame your uni into taking its environmental responsibilities seriously by adopting P&P’s 4 Key Go Green campaign demands. Let your uni know that if it takes action now it can do really well in our league table next year.

You can use the following press release templates:

3. Write a letter to your VC

Draw your VC’s attention to The Green League and how well or poorly your uni has done. Shape the message according to your university’s performance, and highlight the improvements it must make.
