Economic Justice
World trade rules are hurting the poor. Despite the enormous wealth of the global economy, more than half the worldīs people still live on less than two dollars a day. International trade should be helping —- but it isnīt. Instead unjust trade rules are keeping the poor locked in poverty. People & Planet is currently campaigning to rewrite these rules and for students to Redress Fashion and go for Fairtrade status in schools and colleges.
Climate Change
Climate change is happening now. Climate change is the biggest environmental threat facing us today. Caused by the greenhouse gases released by burning oil, coal and gas, climate change is threatening the lives and livelihoods of millions people. We are currently campaigning to:
- Ditch Dirty Development
- Stop Climate Chaos
- Get UK universities, schools and colleges to Go Green.
Treat AIDS Now
Less than a quarter of people in need can access AIDS treatment The lack of access to life prolonging treatment for HIV/AIDS is one of the most profound injustices in the world today. Whilst there is near universal access in the richer countries of the global North, in developing countries less than 25% of adults and less than 10% of children have access to care and treatment. People & Planet’s Treat AIDS Now campaign aims to put an end to this injustice and see treatment for all by 2010.
